Carol is currently the Executive Director of the Ocean Pines Area Chamber of Commerce. Since her retirement from Verizon, she has been a substitute teacher in Worcester County, and part time consultant for a fiber optic engineering firm. Carol retired in 2003 from Verizon, where she worked for 33 years. A pioneer of women in non-traditional jobs in the early ‘70s, (yes she did at one time use hooks to climb utility poles!) She spent her last 16 years of employment as management, supervising technicians, overseeing high tech installation and repair, emergency 911 centers, fiber optic construction, and Right Of Way Engineer for Sussex and Kent County Delaware. She transferred from Verizon PA to DE in 2000, when a job opportunity in Milford had them living here full time within 6 months of the purchase of their "second" home in Ocean Pines. A Sweet Adeline for 28 years, Carol has served as a Chorus Director in Bryn Mawr PA and Princeton New Jersey and as Director of the First State Harmonizers in Milford DE, a mens' chours of the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBQSA); Director of Musical Activities, Region 19 Education Team Leader, Regional Board of Directors, Regional Teaching Faculty, and Mass Sing Director ( her all time favorite event). Carol recently completed a term served on the Region 19 Management Team, representing PA, DE, MD, NJ and WVA, as Team Coordinator, an elected position, and preceeded by a two year term as Director Coodinator. Carol sings lead in a quartet named ShoreFire. She is currently the Director (and a founding member) of the Delmarva Chorus of Sweet Adelines International. For the past five years, she is volunteer vocal coach for the award winning Stephen Decatur High School Choirs and volunteers as a chaperone for school trips. In the Community, she serves as a member and secretary to both the Ocean Pines Comprehensive Planning Committee and the Adhoc to the Architectural Procedure Review Committee. |
